Police record complaint against Ershad ‘henchmen’
The police Thursday recorded a complaint from a journalist that supporters of former president HM Ershad had “confined” him in his house for three hours. Journalist Masud Kamal filed a general diary with Gulshan Police Station.
Bidisha, estranged wife of Ershad, alleged that Kamal had been taken away from in front of her flat, where the journalist had gone to interview her for Bangla-language weekly Saptahik 2000.
Kamal alleged that he had been confined from 5pm to 8pm on Ershad’s flat in President’s Park, also home to Bidisha.
The journalist is working as scripter of Bidisha’s autobiography, which is set to hit the stalls at Ekushey Book Fair, she told bdnews24.com by phone.
Bidisha claimed that Ershad was on the scene when the journalist was taken away.
Ershad and his wife filed complaints and counter complaints over their son Erik Ershad with Gulshan Police Station Tuesday.
Bidisha said Ershad charged the journalist with an attempted kidnap of Erik.
